Pandemonium broke out at a small venue in northern Vermont friday night shortly after the Coburn Gang took the stage. What actually caused the disturbance is not certain, but authorities stated that the crowd, which became wild over the performance of the outlaw country group, started brawling in the building and continued outside after the place sustained some heavy damage. An estimated 350 people, men and women, were involved in the onslaught. One of which was the front man for the group, Cole Coburn. Cole was taken into custody and charged with inciting a riot, disturbing the peace and assault on a police officer. Cole, who was allegedly trying to rescue a band member from attackers, was grabbed from behind and then proceeded to swing wildly behind him not knowing that he was striking a state police officer, who along with several others was called in to deal with the situation. After explaining his case at the station and since no one was seriously injured, Cole was released and told never to return. Besides the damage to the building, a police cruiser was pushed sideways into a ditch on one end of the parking lot by an intoxicated female in a pick up truck who's name has not yet been released. Town officials later commented that the facility has a reputation for being rowdy and it was just a bad choice of entertainment to have in that environment. "Cole Coburn and his gang will never perform here again, you can bet on that", one official stated.

Cole's first signature song "Hillbilly Heaven" was used in a movie called "Shout It Out" which was shot by Kingdom County Productions, established by Jay Craven and Bess O' Brien in may of 1991. The film, based on the acclaimed and successful voices project theatre production, was directed by Bess O' Brien and has received great reviews. On the night of the premiere Cole stated, "I thoroughly enjoyed the film and highly recommend that anyone who gets a chance to see it does so. I'm very excited that Bess chose to use my song in the movie and would love to be involved in any future work by Kingdom County Productions". Listen for Cole's song during the store scene.
